2 Definitions
This section defines key terms used throughout the GPSA Rulebook.
2.1 GPSA
Greater Peninsula Swimming Association.
2.2 BONA FIDE MEMBER
An individual who meets all of the following criteria:
The individual shall be a member in good standing of the GPSA pool to be represented. For members representing a team composed of two or more pools, the individual need only be a member of one of the represented pools.
For competitive swimmers: Satisfies the age requirements for participation as specified in this rulebook.
Has a GPSA liability waiver signed by a legally appropriate representative, or by the individual themselves if of legal age.
An individual who is a member of a pool that has not sponsored a team for the season may represent another team for a period of 1 year.
2.3 CHAMPIONSHIP MEET
Is a swim meet that is open to all qualifying swimmers from any GPSA Team.
Also referred to as CITY MEET.
2.4 SUMMER SPLASH INVITATIONAL MEET
Is a swim meet that is open to swimmers not qualified for the Championship Meet.
Also referred to as MINI MEET.
2.5 INTERPOOL MEET
Also known as a dual meet, shall mean a swim meet swum between two pools.
2.6 TEAM
Is a recognized member of the GPSA that has access to a pool capable of hosting swimming competitions.
2.7 DIVISION
A grouping of Teams who compete in GPSA-Scheduled swim meets in order to identify a DIVISION champion.
The GPSA operates three divisions, Red, White, and Blue.
