Welcome to the official rulebook for the Greater Peninsula Swimming Association (GPSA). This rulebook governs all competitive swimming activities within the GPSA, including dual meets, championship meets, and invitational events.

1.1 About This Rulebook

This rulebook establishes the standards and regulations for:

  • Swimmer Eligibility - Requirements for participation in GPSA-sanctioned meets
  • Meet Officials - Roles, responsibilities, and certification requirements
  • Competition Rules - Event structure, conduct, and scoring procedures
  • Facilities Standards - Pool requirements and technical specifications
  • Awards - Recognition for individual and team achievements

1.2 General Principles

All swimmers and parents, both those who officiate and those who spectate, should be familiar with the rules and duties of each official. Emphasis must be placed on the fact that to have fair competition, all meets must be conducted strictly according to the rules.

The GPSA operates three competitive divisions:

  • Red Division
  • White Division
  • Blue Division

Teams compete within their division to determine a division champion each season.
